Draw Near to the Throne

"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." - Hebrews 4:16

We have a great invitation to come to the throne of grace in times of need, sin, suffering, and satanic attacks, and our God is ready to give grace and mercy. Hebrews 4:16 reveals the heart of our generous God. His throne is a "throne of grace," not a throne of transaction or merit.

The same throne that rules the universe is characterized not by demand but by giving. We don't approach with our hands full of good works or financial offerings, trying to catch God's attention. Our confidence comes not from what we bring but from who invites us – a Father who delights in giving mercy and grace through Christ.

The timing of God's help is equally generous – "in our time of need." There's no waiting period, no spiritual hoops to jump through, no seeds to sow first. Through Jesus, we have immediate access to receive mercy (God withholding the judgment we deserve) and grace (God giving us the blessings we don't deserve).

This is the heart of the Christian faith: a God who gives freely through Christ to all who approach His throne. Every decree and response from this throne is saturated with grace – unearned, unmerited favor that flows freely to His children.

Let us draw near to the throne of grace.
